The New Mayor Vows a 'Dawn' for NYC in Inaugural Speech
On his first day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani committed to “transform” the metropolis, promising “a new era” and an bold commencement to his term.
A Historic Figure
The new democratic socialist, who just a year ago remained a relatively obscure state assemblyman, now stands as the city's first Muslim mayor. He additionally marked a milestone by being the first to be take the oath of office using the Islamic holy text.
